Vintage Raketa Cal 2614.H SU Mechanical Men's Watch 1990s Date

Rare Striped Pinstripe Dial / Square Tonneau Case / Made in Russia

Petrodvorets Watch Factory / 19 Jewels Manual Wind / Vintage Collectible

Classic Geometric TV-Case Layout Fitted

A distinctive piece of post-Soviet watchmaking history featuring striking geometric elegance.

Up for sale is an authentic, highly collectible vintage Raketa mechanical wristwatch made in Russia during the early transitional period of the 1990s. Produced by the legendary Petrodvorets Watch Factory (the oldest factory in Russia), this watch represents the fascinating design pivot following the late Soviet era.

This model stands out immediately due to its stylized, square/tonneau chrome-plated "TV style" case and an uncommon silver-white dial decorated with elegant vertical pinstripe texturing. The dial features crisp Arabic numerals, a dark green perimeter minute track, a date window at 3 o'clock, and is signed Сделано в России. Inside, it houses the legendary, robust in-house Raketa Caliber 2614.H SU mechanical movement featuring 19 ruby jewels. Paired with a brand new alligator-style embossed black PU leather strap, this watch is fully prepared for daily wear or to take a proud spot in your collection.

DEFECTS: Honest minor cosmetic signs of wear, hairline marks on the chrome plating, and micro-scratches on the caseback as expected from an authentic vintage item. Overall preserved in great shape.

HISTORY & LORE

The Petrodvorets Watch Factory, established by Peter the Great in 1721, is Russia's oldest factory. It began manufacturing fine timepieces under the brand name Raketa (meaning "Rocket") in 1961 to honor Yuri Gagarin's historic first manned space flight. Raketa became legendary for producing its own movements entirely in-house, supplying robust technical equipment to polar explorers, the Soviet military, and civilians alike.

The Caliber 2614.H is one of Raketa's most praised and widely utilized workhorse movements. Celebrated for its hard-wearing simplicity, ease of servicing, and highly reliable date complication, it transitionally carried the brand through the collapse of the USSR. Watches like this one, minted in the early 1990s, are highly sought-after cultural markers of a changing political landscape combined with pure classic engineering.

RECOMMENDATIONS

All Antique and vintage watches are mechanical. Repairs require precision, so please handle this historical artifact with care.

  • Vintage mechanical watches should not be beaten or dropped - shocks can damage the balance staff.
  • Vintage watches are generally NOT waterproof. Protect your timekeeper from direct contact with water, heavy rain, or high humidity.
  • Winding any mechanical watch tight may break the mainspring. Stop winding as soon as you feel the natural resistance tightening up.
  • When adjusting the hands of your watch, move them in a clockwise direction only to prevent stress on the gear train.
  • Every 2-3 years it is recommended to service, clean, and oil vintage watches to keep them running accurately for decades to come.
  • Keep your watch away from strong magnetic fields (large speakers, modern computers, magnets) since magnetic exposure can alter the balance spring performance.
