HISTORY & LORE
The Minsk Watch Factory (Luch) was founded in 1953 in Belarus and became one of the major watchmakers of the USSR, famous for pioneering quartz watch movements in the late Soviet period.
In the summer of 1944, Operation Bagration successfully liberated Belarus from Nazi occupation, marked by the iconic Mound of Glory memorial erected near Minsk. To honor the 50th anniversary of this historic victory in 1994, Luch produced a limited run of commemorative timepieces utilizing leftover Soviet-stamped 2350 quartz movements fitted into Belarusian-made cases, creating a unique historical crossover piece.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Although this timepiece features a precise quartz movement, please handle this vintage item with care.
- Vintage quartz watches should be protected from harsh impacts or dropping.
- Vintage watches are generally NOT waterproof. Protect your timekeeper from direct contact with water, heavy rain, or high humidity.
- If your watch becomes wet it should be dried off quickly. Carefully open all covers and use a hair drier to blow dry the movement, dial, covers, crown. This will reduce the amount of rust.
- If your watch becomes wet with any kind of salt water you should immediately immerse or spray your watch with fresh (no-salt) water to remove all the salt from the works before drying the watch completely. Any salt left in the watch will combine with moisture in the air to rust metal components of the movement, case etc.
- To clean the case, dial and crystal you should use a cloth that does NOT leave fibers as these may get caught up in the movement. Check with your Watch repair expert to get an appropriate cloth.
- Keep your watch away from strong magnetic fields (large speakers, modern computers, magnets) as extreme exposure can temporarily affect quartz step-motor operation.
- When changing time or day/date, pull the crown gently and rotate smoothly without forcing the mechanism.
