HISTORY

Venus S.A. was a highly respected Swiss watch movement manufacturer, founded in 1902 in Moutier (later moving to La Chaux-de-Fonds). While Venus is most famous today for its legendary chronograph movements (such as the Calibers 175 and 178, which powered early Breitling and other top-tier watches), the company also produced reliable time-only movements and collaborated with other ebauche makers like Felsa. The Felsa 4007N movement in this watch belongs to the Felsa "Bidynator" family, which was technologically advanced for the post-war era, providing efficient bi-directional winding. Venus often used these reliable movements, alongside their own creations, in their non-chronograph automatic dress watches during the 1950s and 60s, before the company's eventual absorption into the movement consolidating entities of the Swiss watch industry.
