HISTORY & LORE

Founded in 1853 in Waldenburg, Switzerland, Revue (Revue Thommen) holds a historic place in Swiss horology. Known for crafting ultra-reliable field and pilot watches, Revue movements were widely trusted during the mid-20th century, including supply for military and civil aviation instruments. The "Revue Sport" line epitomizes mid-century durability, incorporating advanced shock-resisting technologies like Incabloc.

RECOMMENDATIONS

All Antique and vintage watches are mechanical. Repairs require precision, so please handle this historical timepiece with care.

  • Vintage mechanical watches should not be beaten or dropped - shocks can damage the balance staff.
  • Vintage watches are NOT waterproof. Protect your timekeeper from direct contact with water, heavy rain, or high humidity.
  • If your watch becomes wet it should be dried off quickly using a soft cloth or blow-drier on cool setting.
  • Winding any mechanical watch tight may break the mainspring. Stop winding as soon as you feel natural resistance tightening up.
  • When adjusting the hands of your watch, move them in a clockwise direction only to prevent stress on the gear train.
  • Every 2-3 years it is recommended to service, clean, and oil vintage watches to keep them running accurately for decades to come.
  • To clean the steel case and crystal, use a microfiber polishing cloth.
  • Keep your watch away from strong magnetic fields (large speakers, modern smartphones, magnetic clasps).
  • Vintage mechanical watches naturally experience a daily deviation error. An accuracy of +/- 2 to 4 minutes a day is considered excellent for a vintage timepiece.
